Study Mission to Ireland

The Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC) is going to participate in a study mission to Ireland . The objective of the mission is to identify more the Irish experience in enhancing competitiveness. The mission's areas of interest include: Competitiveness and Regulatory Reform, Institutional Frameworks, Education and Business Links, Industrial Zones, and Entrepreneurship. The mission will be from the period (May 26 to June 3rd).

There will be more coverage of these areas and less separation among participants. Examples of planned visits are the National Technology Parks, University of Limerick, Department of the Taoiseach (Prime Minister), the National Competitiveness Council, Forfas, the Business Regulatory Forum, and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

The Irish side is expecting towards the end of the visit in Dublin that the Egyptian mission participants will make a presentation to a selected group of interested Irish participants on “How they see the Irish Egyptian Relationship Developing in the Future” 


The reasons behind selecting Ireland are concluded in that it ranks the 4th  for business efficiency according to the IMD World Competitiveness in 2008, the 7th (of 182 countries) as a place to do business in the World Doing Business Report 2009, 4th across OECD and 2nd in Europe for the proportion of entrepreneurs with 8.2% of adults engaged in entrepreneurial activity. It performs well above EU average in terms of firms engaging in innovative activities.
