Egyptian Competitiveness Report

The Egyptian Competitiveness Report (ECR) is the ENCC’s annual flagship publication. The report provides a critical analysis of Egypt’s competitiveness based mainly on the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report as well as findings from the World Bank’s Doing Business report and the Business Barometer published by the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies. Authored by prominent scholars, the ECR is a key source of data and information for policymakers, researchers and civil society organizations. The ENCC began publishing the ECR in 2004. The last report, "Towards a Competitive Egypt: Where Everybody Wins," was launched in May, 2008. The ENCC launched the sixth 2009 ECR on June 30th, 2009. The report is titled "Beyond the Financial Crisis: Competitiveness and Sustainable Development". It provides an in-depth look at national strengths and weaknesses amidst changing global political and economic landscapes.

(The sixth Report) Beyond the Financial Crisis: Competitiveness & Sustainable Development. (2009)
The 6th ECR "Beyond the Financial Crisis: Competitiveness and Sustainable Development," was praised by academics, government officials and private sector leaders. In addition to the presenting an overview of Egypt’s competitiveness rankings and latest macroeconomic performance the volume included special chapters on agriculture sector competitiveness and responsible competitiveness.

(The Fifth Report) Towards A Competitiveness Egypt: Where Everybody Wins. (2008)
The Fifth Egyptian competitiveness report Competitiveness Report was published under the title “”Towards a competitive Egypt: Where Everybody Wins”. The report discussed how could Egypt achieve balanced growth. On the sectoral level the report focused on the tourism sector. The report also discussed the main global challenges :peak oil, climate change, and water scarcity

(The Fourth Report) Taking the Next Big Step. (2006 – 2007)
The fourth Egyptian Competitiveness Report emphasized the need to implement a comprehensive regulatory reform initiative in Egypt . Speeding up regulatory reform in Egypt will help existing businesses to grow and encourages the establishment of new businesses. This is particularly true for small and medium size business that can not afford the high cost of bureaucracy

(The Third Report) The Egyption Competitiveness Report. (2005 – 2006)
The third edition of the Egyptian Competitiveness Report discussed the role of Innovation in strengthening the competitiveness of Egypt and focused on Industrial Performance

(The Second Report) The Egyption Competitiveness Report. (2004 – 2005)
The second edition of the Egyptian Competitiveness Report discussed Public Private Partnership, Real estate Investment, and Human Resources

(The First Report) The Egyption Competitiveness Report. (2003 – 2004)
The First edition of the Egyptian Competitiveness Report was published under the title “”Introducing the Concept”. For the first time in Egypt the concept and the index of competitiveness were introduced
