Education, Training and Competitiveness: International Experiences and the Egyptian Case

The Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC) and the European Training Foundation (ETF) are jointly organizing a workshop on “Education, Training and Competitiveness: International Experiences and the Egyptian Case” on Thursday December 10, 2009. The workshop will be focusing on the importance of improving the competitiveness of the human resources by developing education and training systems. According to local and international competitiveness reports education and training are considered the main challenges to improve the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy. Several studies have also emphasized the importance of developing the human capital as one of the main factors for promoting the Egyptian economy. This workshop is held to enhance the continuous cooperation between the ENCC and the ETF in order to achieve the common targets of both institutions in developing human resources. It is also considered a forum for an open dialogue between economic experts, private sector representatives, policy makers, civil society institutions and international organizations to suggest new national policies that effectively contribute to the reform of education and training systems in Egypt. The workshop is considered a step toward further cooperation between the two institutions and a base for joint initiatives and projects in the future.
