ENCC and EJB held jointly a workshop on "Rationalizing Water Irrigation in Delta"
The Agriculture Competitiveness Council, a sub-council of The Egyptian National Competitiveness Council and the Food and Agriculture Committee, a sub-committee of the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) jointly organized a workshop entitled "Rationalizing Water Irrigation in Delta" on Saturday January 30, 2010. This workshop came in the frame work of the cooperation between ENCC and EJB towards raising the competitiveness of the Egyptian agriculture sector and increasing its sustainability. The workshop addressed the main challenges that face this important sector such as food security, securing energy sources, climate change.
The agriculture sector is considered one of the most important sectors in Egypt. Its huge potentials can greatly assist in promoting the Egyptian Economy and enhancing its competitiveness. One of the most important issues related to the Egyptian agriculture sector is rationalizing the water irrigation which was the main topic of this workshop, which is the first to be held by the Agriculture Competitiveness Council.
The aim of both the Agriculture Competitiveness Council and Food and Agriculture Committee is to spread awareness of the main challenges and issues related to the Egyptian Agriculture Sector Competitiveness. They also aim at improving the sector competitiveness capability through initiating a constructive dialogue within the Egyptian society that includes experts on Agriculture, representatives from private and public enterprises, policy makers and civil society.
