The Fifth Annual Report Of The Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC) Proposes a Framework For A National Competitiveness Strategy For Egypt, “Where Everybody Wins”

The ENCC launched its fifth annual report Towards a “Competitive Egypt: Where Everybody Wins” during the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, held at the Red Sea Resort of Sharm el-Sheikh from 18-20 May. Thirteen heads of state and government along with more than 1,500 participants, including leading political and business figures, decision-makers and officials from 70 Arab and foreign countries attended the forum. A second launch conference to discuss the findings of the report was also held in Cairo at Sofitel Hotel on June 17, 2008. Speakers included Ms. Amina Ghanem, Deputy Minister for International Relations at the Ministry of Finance; Dr. Hossam Badrawy, Shura Council Member; Mr. Helmy Abouleish, Chairman of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council; Prof. Adla Ragab, Professor of Economics at Cairo University and Counselor to the Minister of Tourism; Dr. Iman El-Kaffas, President of Step up Consultancy; Dr. Samir Radwan, Advisor to the Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones. Three ministers also gave remarks including Dr. Ahmed Darwish, Minister for Administrative Development; Dr. Yousry El-Gamal, Minister of Education; and Dr. Hany Helal, Minister of Higher Education.
